11.6 Kg in Stone — Healthy Weight Guide for UK Adults

11.6 kilograms is equivalent to 1 stone and 10.2 pounds in UK measurements. Whether this weight is healthy depends entirely on your height, age, and overall health profile. A weight that's healthy for one person may be overweight or underweight for another. The NHS uses BMI (body mass index) as a screening tool to assess whether weight falls within a healthy range. Use our free BMI calculator above to check your personal BMI and healthy weight range based on your actual height — this gives you a much clearer picture than weight alone.

What Is BMI and Why Does It Matter?

Body Mass Index (BMI) is the most widely used screening tool for assessing whether your weight falls within a healthy range. Used by the NHS, GPs, and weight management services across the UK, BMI provides a quick snapshot of your weight relative to your height. The formula is simple: your weight in kilograms divided by your height in metres squared (kg/m²).

While BMI isn't a perfect measure — it doesn't account for muscle mass, bone density, or fat distribution — it remains the standard first step in identifying potential weight-related health risks including type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, and certain cancers.

Below 18.5Underweight
18.5 – 24.9Healthy
25 – 29.9Overweight
30+Obese

The NHS also recommends adjusted thresholds for people of South Asian, Chinese, or Black African heritage — a BMI of 23 or above is classified as overweight, and 27.5 as obese. Our calculator includes this adjustment as a one-click toggle.

Healthy Weight Ranges by Height — When 11.6 Kg May Be Appropriate

At 11.6 kg, this weight would only be healthy for very young children or infants — it falls far below the healthy adult range for any height. To understand whether a weight is healthy, you need to calculate BMI using both weight and height together. Here are three realistic examples showing how the same weight converts to stone and pounds, and whether it's healthy:

  • At 150 cm (4ft 11in): 11.6 kg gives a BMI of 7.7 — dangerously underweight
  • At 160 cm (5ft 3in): 11.6 kg gives a BMI of 7.2 — dangerously underweight
  • At 170 cm (5ft 7in): 11.6 kg gives a BMI of 6.8 — dangerously underweight

According to NHS guidelines, a healthy BMI is between 18.5 and 24.9 for most adults. At 11.6 kg, anyone of adult height would be severely underweight. This weight is only appropriate for infants or very young children, who follow different growth charts. If you're an adult at this weight, please contact your GP urgently.

NHS Guidance and When to Seek Help

The NHS recommends that adults maintain a healthy weight that results in a BMI between 18.5 and 24.9. Being significantly underweight — as 11.6 kg would be for any adult — carries serious health risks including malnutrition, weakened immunity, bone density loss, and fertility problems. Beyond BMI, waist circumference also matters: the NHS flags increased health risk above 94 cm for men and 80 cm for women.

If you're concerned about your weight being too low, speak with your GP. They can assess your individual health, rule out underlying conditions like eating disorders or malabsorption issues, and provide personalised guidance. Try our free weight converter to check your weight in different units, and use the BMI calculator on this page to understand your healthy range based on your actual height.

Every calculator and guide on myweightcheck is built with accuracy and transparency in mind. Our BMI calculator uses the standard WHO formula with NHS-aligned category thresholds. Our GLP-1 projections are modelled on published clinical trial data from SURMOUNT and STEP studies.

All data stays on your device. We don't require sign-ups, and we don't store your health information on any server. Your progress tracker saves data locally in your browser using localStorage, so only you can see it.

We're based in the UK and our tools are designed specifically for UK users — supporting stone & lbs by default, referencing NHS guidelines, using NICE-approved medication data, and linking to GPhC-registered pharmacies.
