111 kilograms converts to 17 stone and 6 pounds (or 17.4 stone). However, your BMI — the measure most health professionals use to assess weight health — depends entirely on your height. At different heights, 111 kg produces very different BMI results, ranging from underweight to obese depending on how tall you are. What Is BMI and Why Does It Matter?

Body Mass Index (BMI) is the most widely used screening tool for assessing whether your weight falls within a healthy range. Used by the NHS, GPs, and weight management services across the UK, BMI provides a quick snapshot of your weight relative to your height. The formula is simple: your weight in kilograms divided by your height in metres squared (kg/m²).

While BMI isn't a perfect measure — it doesn't account for muscle mass, bone density, or fat distribution — it remains the standard first step in identifying potential weight-related health risks including type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, and certain cancers.

Below 18.5Underweight
18.5 – 24.9Healthy
25 – 29.9Overweight
30+Obese

The NHS also recommends adjusted thresholds for people of South Asian, Chinese, or Black African heritage — a BMI of 23 or above is classified as overweight, and 27.5 as obese. Our calculator includes this adjustment as a one-click toggle.

111 kg BMI at Different Heights

Your BMI at 111 kg varies significantly depending on your height. Here are common height examples:

  • 160 cm (5ft 3in): BMI of 43.4 — severely obese (Class III)
  • 165 cm (5ft 5in): BMI of 40.8 — severely obese (Class III)
  • 170 cm (5ft 7in): BMI of 38.4 — obese (Class II)
  • 175 cm (5ft 9in): BMI of 36.2 — obese (Class II)
  • 180 cm (5ft 11in): BMI of 34.2 — obese (Class I)
  • 185 cm (6ft 1in): BMI of 32.5 — obese (Class I)

To convert 111 kg to stone, divide by 6.35 — this gives 17 stone and 6 pounds. Your GP can discuss what your personal BMI and weight mean for your health.

Understanding Your BMI Category

The NHS defines healthy weight as a BMI between 18.5 and 24.9. At 111 kg, you are likely in the obese range unless you are significantly taller than average. However, BMI has limitations — it does not distinguish between muscle and fat, so very athletic individuals may have a high BMI without excess body fat. For adults of South Asian, Chinese, Black African, or Black Caribbean heritage, the NHS recommends lower BMI thresholds due to higher health risks at the same BMI. Track your weight progress with our free progress tracker and discuss your health goals with your GP, who can provide personalised guidance.

All data stays on your device. We don't require sign-ups, and we don't store your health information on any server. Your progress tracker saves data locally in your browser using localStorage, so only you can see it.

We're based in the UK and our tools are designed specifically for UK users — supporting stone & lbs by default, referencing NHS guidelines, using NICE-approved medication data, and linking to GPhC-registered pharmacies.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about BMI, weight loss medications, and our free UK tools.

What does 111 kg equal in stones and pounds?

111 kg converts to 17 stone and 6 pounds (or 17.4 stone). To convert kilograms to stone, divide the kg value by 6.35. You can also use our weight converter above to switch between metric and imperial measurements instantly.

What is the BMI for 111 kg?

Your BMI at 111 kg depends on your height. At 170 cm (5ft 7in), the BMI is 38.4 (obese Class II). At 180 cm (5ft 11in), it is 34.2 (obese Class I). Use the BMI calculator on this page to find your exact BMI by entering your height.

Is 111 kg a healthy weight?

Whether 111 kg is healthy depends on your height and overall health. According to NHS guidelines, a healthy weight typically corresponds to a BMI between 18.5 and 24.9. At 111 kg, most adults will be in the overweight or obese category. Your GP can advise on healthy weight targets for you.

How much weight would I need to lose to reach a healthy BMI?

This depends on your height. At 170 cm, reaching a healthy BMI (24.9) would require losing approximately 33 kg to reach 78 kg. At 180 cm, you would need to lose around 28 kg to reach approximately 83 kg. Our free BMI calculator can show you the target weight range for your specific height.

Can BMI be misleading at 111 kg?

Yes — BMI does not account for muscle mass, so very athletic individuals may have a high BMI without excess body fat. BMI also does not show where fat is stored; waist circumference is important too. For a complete health picture, discuss your results with your GP, who can assess your overall health beyond BMI alone.
