What's 69kg in Stone — and What's Your BMI?

At 69kg, your weight converts to 10 stone and 12.7 pounds using the standard kilogram to stone conversion. However, whether this is a healthy weight depends entirely on your height. BMI (Body Mass Index) is the NHS measure used to assess if a weight falls within a healthy range. Using our free BMI calculator above, you can instantly check your personal BMI by entering your height and weight — this gives you a much clearer picture of your health status than weight alone.

What Is BMI and Why Does It Matter?

Body Mass Index (BMI) is the most widely used screening tool for assessing whether your weight falls within a healthy range. Used by the NHS, GPs, and weight management services across the UK, BMI provides a quick snapshot of your weight relative to your height. The formula is simple: your weight in kilograms divided by your height in metres squared (kg/m²).

While BMI isn't a perfect measure — it doesn't account for muscle mass, bone density, or fat distribution — it remains the standard first step in identifying potential weight-related health risks including type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, and certain cancers.

Below 18.5Underweight
18.5 – 24.9Healthy
25 – 29.9Overweight
30+Obese

The NHS also recommends adjusted thresholds for people of South Asian, Chinese, or Black African heritage — a BMI of 23 or above is classified as overweight, and 27.5 as obese. Our calculator includes this adjustment as a one-click toggle.

69kg BMI at Different Heights

A weight of 69kg produces different BMI results depending on how tall you are. Here's how 69kg converts to BMI across common UK heights:

  • 160cm (5ft 3in): BMI 26.9 — overweight category
  • 165cm (5ft 5in): BMI 25.3 — overweight category
  • 170cm (5ft 7in): BMI 23.8 — healthy weight
  • 175cm (5ft 9in): BMI 22.5 — healthy weight
  • 180cm (5ft 11in): BMI 21.3 — healthy weight
  • 185cm (6ft 1in): BMI 20.1 — healthy weight

Use the weight converter on this page to switch between metric and imperial measurements, and try our BMI calculator to enter your exact height and see your personal result instantly.

NHS BMI Categories & What Your Result Means

According to NHS guidelines, a healthy BMI for most adults falls between 18.5 and 24.9. At 69kg, your health status depends on your height. Important note: BMI does not account for muscle mass or where fat is stored — it's a useful screening tool but has limitations. For South Asian, Chinese, Black African, or Black Caribbean adults, the NHS recommends lower BMI thresholds because these groups face higher health risks at lower weights. Always discuss your weight and health with your GP, who can assess your individual circumstances, family history, and any health conditions affecting your weight.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about BMI, weight loss medications, and our free UK tools.

Is 69kg overweight or healthy?

It depends on your height. At 69kg, a person who is 170cm (5ft 7in) or taller typically falls within the healthy BMI range. Shorter heights may show an overweight BMI. Use our free BMI calculator above to check your personal result — it's the most reliable way to know.

How do I convert 69kg to stone and pounds?

69kg equals 10 stone and 12.7 pounds. To convert kilograms to stone, divide by 6.35. You can also use the weight converter on this page to switch between kg, stone, and pounds instantly for any weight.

What BMI should I aim for according to the NHS?

The NHS recommends a healthy BMI between 18.5 and 24.9 for most adults. If you're of South Asian, Chinese, Black African, or Black Caribbean heritage, aim for 18.5 to 22.9. Your GP can advise on what's healthy for you personally.

Is BMI the only measure of healthy weight?

No. BMI is useful but has limitations — it doesn't distinguish muscle from fat. Waist circumference is also important: men over 94cm and women over 80cm have increased health risk. Your GP can assess your overall health picture.

Should I lose weight if I'm 69kg?

Only your GP can advise whether weight loss is right for you. It depends on your height, BMI, age, health conditions, and family history. Book an appointment to discuss your individual health goals and any concerns.
