Height Weight Visualizer for UK Adults

A height weight visualizer helps you see how your measurements compare to healthy ranges for your height. In the UK, we typically measure weight in stone and pounds, and height in feet and inches — making it easy to understand where you sit on the health spectrum. Whether you're checking your current weight management status or exploring healthy weight targets, visualizing the relationship between your height and weight gives you clarity on your personal health context. Our free BMI calculator and weight converter make it simple to assess your measurements against NHS guidance right now.

What Is BMI and Why Does It Matter?

Body Mass Index (BMI) is the most widely used screening tool for assessing whether your weight falls within a healthy range. Used by the NHS, GPs, and weight management services across the UK, BMI provides a quick snapshot of your weight relative to your height. The formula is simple: your weight in kilograms divided by your height in metres squared (kg/m²).

While BMI isn't a perfect measure — it doesn't account for muscle mass, bone density, or fat distribution — it remains the standard first step in identifying potential weight-related health risks including type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, and certain cancers.

Below 18.5Underweight
18.5 – 24.9Healthy
25 – 29.9Overweight
30+Obese

The NHS also recommends adjusted thresholds for people of South Asian, Chinese, or Black African heritage — a BMI of 23 or above is classified as overweight, and 27.5 as obese. Our calculator includes this adjustment as a one-click toggle.

Understanding Height and Weight Relationships in the UK

Your healthy weight range depends entirely on your height. The NHS uses BMI (Body Mass Index) as the standard screening tool, which combines your weight and height into a single number. For most UK adults, a healthy BMI falls between 18.5 and 24.9. However, this range shifts significantly based on your height — a healthy weight for someone 5ft 4in (163cm) is very different from someone 6ft 2in (188cm).

  • At 5ft 4in (163cm), a healthy weight is roughly 7st 9lbs to 10st 4lbs (48–65kg)
  • At 5ft 8in (173cm), a healthy weight is roughly 8st 10lbs to 11st 10lbs (55–74kg)
  • At 6ft 0in (183cm), a healthy weight is roughly 9st 12lbs to 13st 4lbs (63–85kg)

The NHS also recognises that for adults of South Asian, Chinese, Black African, and Black Caribbean heritage, lower BMI thresholds apply due to higher health risks at the same weights. These ethnic-specific ranges start at BMI 27.5 rather than 30 for overweight classification.

How We Built These Tools

Every calculator and guide on myweightcheck is built with accuracy and transparency in mind. Our BMI calculator uses the standard WHO formula with NHS-aligned category thresholds. Our GLP-1 projections are modelled on published clinical trial data from SURMOUNT and STEP studies.

All data stays on your device. We don't require sign-ups, and we don't store your health information on any server. Your progress tracker saves data locally in your browser using localStorage, so only you can see it.

We're based in the UK and our tools are designed specifically for UK users — supporting stone & lbs by default, referencing NHS guidelines, using NICE-approved medication data, and linking to GPhC-registered pharmacies.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about BMI, weight loss medications, and our free UK tools.

What is a healthy weight range for my height in the UK?

Your healthy weight range depends on your height and is best calculated using BMI (Body Mass Index). For most UK adults, a BMI between 18.5 and 24.9 is considered healthy. Use our free BMI calculator to enter your height and weight and see your personal healthy range instantly. If you're of South Asian, Chinese, Black African, or Black Caribbean heritage, slightly lower thresholds apply — your GP can advise on this.

Why does weight matter more than just the number on the scales?

Weight alone doesn't tell the full story — your height, age, muscle mass, and where fat is stored all matter. That's why the NHS uses BMI combined with waist measurements to assess health risk. A person with high muscle mass might have a high BMI but good health, while another person at the same weight might face higher health risks. This is why personalised assessment from your GP is valuable.

How do I convert my weight to different UK measurements?

The UK uses stone and pounds for body weight, while medical settings often use kilograms. Use our free weight converter to switch between these instantly: 1 stone equals 14 pounds exactly, and 1 kilogram equals 0.157 stone. For example, 70kg converts to 11 stone 0.1 pounds. Our converter handles all combinations of metric and imperial measurements.

Can I use a height weight visualizer to predict my ideal weight loss?

A visualizer shows you healthy weight ranges for your height, but predicting your personal ideal weight requires considering your body composition, muscle mass, genetics, and medical history. Your GP is best placed to discuss realistic and healthy weight targets for you. If you're exploring weight management options, our GLP-1 weight loss calculator can help project potential outcomes with medical support.

Should I aim for the bottom or top of the healthy weight range for my height?

The healthy weight range is quite wide because people of the same height vary in frame size and muscle mass. Neither the bottom nor the top is universally "best" — your ideal weight depends on your individual health, how you feel, and what's sustainable long-term. Discuss with your GP which part of the range is most appropriate for your health profile and lifestyle. ```
